85 Firebird TA numbers are off

Car: 1985 TA
Engine: 305
Transmission: A4
85 Firebird TA numbers are off
I have an 85 Firebird/TA. Using the VIN decoder here, it tells me that I have a TA/SE with a 305. However, the engine code is DDD....that deciphers into a 1983 305. Am I missing something, or is this not the original engine.

Axle/Gears: 2.73 posi, 3.06 posi
If the block says its an '83, and the VIN says the car is an '85, its not original.
