350 tbi to a 350 tpi

hi i am thinking about building a 350 for my iroc, my freind says he can get me a 350 tbi engine out of a truck of the same year. i was wondering if the crankshaft would be different or would work for my tpi setup. i assume that the heads would work, they would get all reworked along with the rest of the engine except for the crankshaft. let me know what you think, wanna try to get around 400 hp out of the setup.
thanks, give me suggestions?

The cranks are the same.

I've never heard of anybody that got 400 HP out of TBI heads. They're usually the first thing to go (for those that have any understanding of how to make power).

400, there is no way.
Get the Scoggin dickey TPi baseplate and use the rest of the TPI setup. Then some vortec heads and custom exhaust and you are ready to go.

Someone on here a while back had a performance TBI and switched it to a TPI and picked up all of 5 HP or something very low like that. In short, if you want to make more power, the TBI to TPI swap is not a cost effective way to do it.

Like Five7Kid said, the heads are the key to making power with TBI units, followed closely by a closely matched cam.

Its gonna be tuogh out of either TPI or TBI to get 400 hp (especially 400 at the wheels). If u dont have emission laws go with a stealth or miniram. Otherwise your cutting your motor's power off after 4500 RPM. Of course u need different heads and a cam
