just wondering what you guys are paying for motor swaps if you don't do them yourselves. TBI to TPI, v6 to v8, LS/LT1.

I was quoted $800-1000 labor from a local speed shop (they're real experts, too) to pull my 305 TPi and install my SuperRam 383.

And that's a lot less work than what you're probably proposing doing, especially if you go with the LS1.

I'd say add at least 50% to my quote since you'll need new computer, intake, harness, etc. if you go with the LT1, even more for the LS1.

And that doesn't include any parts. Sorry to be the bearer of "bad" news.... but particularly in the case of LS1 swaps, they are extremely expensive to do. Check out Mike Crews' posts and his saga converting to an LS1. Has a great car as a result, but including the engine and a T56 cost I think he paid somewhere in excess fo $12-15K for his conversion. Which means the labor was probably in the $3-5K range.

Hope this helps a little bit, it would be an awesome car, but if you can't or don't want to do any of the work yourself you had better have deep and full pockets!

Have a Great Day!!!

I paid $2,350 for labor for my swap

Remove 305 TBI, TH400, Rear End, Gas Tank
Install LS1
Install T56
Install 4th Gen gas tank
Install 4th Gen disc rear end
Install NX kit
Install STB
Install SFC
Install Custom exhaust system
Install Wiring harness
Install new fuel system

So if you are paying 3-5 thousand on just a LS1/T56 swap, i would highly recommend looking elsewhere......

With a load of other parts besides the LS1/T56, I kept mine under $12,000

Thanks. Not for me, I was just wondering. I do all of my work. One of my customers wants us to do an L03 to L98 swap, looking to see what you guys are paying. Im doing the LS1 in my car myself seeing as how thats all my shop does.
