84 2.8 w/2bbl carb to 350 carb setup
my camaro has a dieing 2.8 w/ a 2bbl and i want to swap it w/ a 350 w/ a 4bbl. My question is how could i keep this car smog legal. I know in 84 the only v8's were a 305 and the 305 h.o. so am i gonna have a street legal car if i dumped the 350 in it. What smog equipment came on the 84 models? i live in pa where at the present time they are starting to have emission inspection but i'm not entirly sure what they are looking for. Is there any way i could have my cake and eat it too?? Thanks for any help guys!!

The only way to have a totally legal carb'd 350 is with the HO 350 Camaro Conversion Kit from GM. That's the good news. The bad new is they don't make them anymore. Doing it required having an '82-'87 factory carb'd V8 car, anyway.
The mostly legal way to do it would be to get an '84-later carb'd factory V8 donor car, switching all the V8 stuff over to your car, using a 350 engine. It'll look like the 305 the factory put in, and if you don't go overboard with the cam, it'll pass sniffer.
I don't suppose you noticed the sticky at the top of this forum. It highly recommends getting a factory V8 donor car. This is especially true if you have emissions concerns. It's the best way to get everything you need for both the basic swap and the emissions equipment.
The only other "legal" way for a 350 is swap in an L98 with all the required equipment. For the equipment requirements, see "factory V8 donor car" above. But, that wouldn't be carb'd.
