tbi - tpi q's

I am scared to death about this swap because I need to get it all taken care of during a 3 day weekend coming up and that includes tpi system, fuel pump, and posi rear. So I'm sorry if these questions are posted deep in the TGO archives. I've been spending a lot of time looking up this stuff and have come up with little info on the following questions. Here goes.

I currently have the radiator out of my 350 tbi and I was wondering how can you do the swap to tpi? I saw on that one tbi - tpi website that there's an extra return line from the heater? How would you go about modding this or is this not even necessary?

I have bought the walbro fuel pump from racetronix.com. Would this be a direct bolt in? I realize I have to drop the tank to put it in but is there anything besides the rubber lines to the fuel rail that would need to be changed over? Do I need to fab up some electrical connectors to put the fuel pump in or am I ok?

How can I tell what size the fuel injectors are on my transferred fuel rail? (ie: 19lb or 22lb) If there's no way to tell, where's the best place to get replacement ones? I know slp had those lt1 injectors but they are out of stock. Also, how can I tell what the eprom is for either 305 or 350? Any help would be appreciated.

How can I clean out the carbon buildup on my transfer replacement parts? I've tried using carb cleaner and a toothbrush, but it just caked up the toothbrush and didn't do jack after that. Is it really beneficial to clean out the black gunk inside the plenum?

Does anyone have any pics of the location of all the sensors inside the engine bay to make the swap as smooth as possible? I think I remember hearing vader having a couple pics with sensors labeled, but if anyone has them, please please post them.

Thank you way way in advance for any help here guys. I really appreciate it all.

Pat

You sound like you are on the rigth track. I would get a can of Easy Off oven cleaner to get he funk out of th eplenum. You do not want it comming lose and getting into your motor. The pump is a driect bolt in. You take the old one out and put the new one in. The radiators are the same (besides single vs dual fans) and the heater valves and such should be identical between the two. I cannot help you on the inejctors though because that is out of my league.

Ok thanks. I just found out they were 305 injectors, so they are scrap. It's a shame, they looked very clean too. Now, I have two sets of junk 305 injectors, bah. I also learned my eprom is for a 305 as well. Any idea where I can pick up a good 350 eprom chip? I will try that easy bake oven stuff and see how it goes.

Also, I have a flawless fuel rail but the connecting lines going from one side to the other are loose. The whole thing rattles and twists if I shake it. Any idea how I can tighten them up or is it scrapped as well? I just bought a tpi swappers book and it has a lot of black and white pics of different relay locations so that helps some.

Thanks.

The radiators are NOT the same beteen TPI and TBI. The heater returns the coolant directly to the radiator on the tpi models and on th tbi cars it goes back to the water pump. I know when the radiator died on my car I had tow laying around from other vehicles but the lack of return for the heater forced me to have to buy a new one.

The coolant from the heater also goes to the radiator. Nothing is connected to the water pump other that the lower and upper hoses.

Will it hurt anything if I reuse my tbi radiator? I don't have the return line at the top. I have one at the bottom though. Is there anyway I can mod my current radiator?
