i swaped from a 2.8 v6 with a t5 manual to a 305 with a 700r4 auto the car is old enough to not have to worry about passing emissions..i just need to know what i need to have hooked up for it to run....the wiring is totally diff..like the tcc on the tranny does that have to be there to work properly??? cause i dont have the wiring for it cause i had a manual...

U need power to the distirbutor, and well, that will get it running assuming you have power the to alt. to..Dont worry bout your transmission, if your worred, there is little computers that will control it or you can make your own.

 

We need alittle more info. Or at least i do. Did you use the same wiring harness as you did before or not.
If you used the same wiring harness then i would say you should just get a wiring harness that is from the same year with a v8 tbi/tpi which ever system you used and a 700r4 and plug it in.

 

ya this is where it gets fun.. the motor came with a wiring harness so i un hooked mine and pluged in the one for the v8..than i realized with the digital dash i need the speedo connector from the original harness for my spedometer to work ..as far as the distributer i know the tach wire but other than that im not sure cause in the v6 the coil was on the valve cover and there was a mess of wires now with the v8 the coil is in the distributer ..does anyone know the wire colors i need i bought a haynes manual but none of the colors in the diagram match up with my harness...

when i did my swap i used a 89 350 harness on a 92 v6 so when i went to wire up my speedometer i realized that i needed a speed buffer to complete it. Anyway im still messing around with it. If you need any help ill gladly help pm me. Oh by the way i think the wires that go to the speedo gears are yellow and purple.
