lt1 swap. where to run wires to starter?

Where is everyone running the wires that go to the starter and knock sensor etc? I tried running them in front of the pass header and down along the block with the plug wires but it just doesn't go right and i was worried about heat getting to the wires..
then i tried putting them in loom and running them between #6 & #8 header pipes, centered with the dip stick, but the loom melted.
any ideas?

I used stock routing for the main starter power wire, and used the stock thirdgen purple starter wire.

stock routing is on top of the block, between the valve covers and intake manifold, then it loops down the front of the block and comes back around hugging the block. There's a clasp on the block that holds the loom close to the block. The loom contains the injector wires, the IAC motor connector, A/C, knock sensor, and the starter wires.
