LT1 harness? SD or MAF or does it matter/
I know that the Speed Density setup for the LT1 swap is easier, so I'll go with that. My question is: Does the wiring harness year matter when converting to SD? I mean, should I look for a '93 LT1 harness as opposed to a later year one? Since the '93 F-Body was SD. Would this ease the install?

Well I've heard that when swapping, the computer is just converted to SD not to have to worry about the MAF. I was just wondering if the SD harness was different than the MAF. Or if it made a difference?
Also, does the '93 T56 tranny harness differ from the '94-'97 T56 harness?

Get a MAF harness, worse comes to worse unplug the MAF and the PCM will go off SD. Its not a good idea to get a lt1 and just go SD. You'll see better results with a MAF.

Well there's a LT1 harness with T56 harness attached on ebaymotors for $50. So you're sayin' just pass this one up and find a MAF harness? Do the harnesses usually come with the T56 harness if it's form a 6-speed car?

THe engine harness on any LT1 will include the connections for the transmission, even the 4l60E harnesses. Just get a 94+ harness. The 93 Auto harness will be different since it uses a 700r4. I know your using a t-56 but thought I would note that.

Not trying to jack the thread...
But Pasky, to do the intake swap with an existing sbc and 700R4 I should still get the 93 harness?
The LT1 intake I have is from a 94 Z.
Thanks,

Im not sure bud, I have no idea about doing a SBC to lt1 intake. I was under the impression you just need the fuel injection part? I may be wrong, because thier is alot more on the lt1 harness, like MAF, knock sensor, and crap like that. But if your going 700r4 I would think you need a 93 throttle body since it has the provision for the TV cable.

No, keep your stock harness. Everything that you already have is the same for the intake.

I have a TBI engine right now.
So I need either a TPI harness or LT1 harness.
Which do you think is better, and what year should I get if I do decide to do this?
Yeah sorry man, didn't know that when I replied. As far as I know, you won't need an LT1 harness. A TPI harness has all the same hookups because it has all the same sensors. You just might have to lengthen a couple of the wires.
