Do I simply connect the yellow wire from my LT1 harness (which comes from the firewall directly to the starter) to the purple wire coming out of my firewall(for the starter)? I thought the signal had to first go the the computer for the VATS to work properely.

If its a f-body harness, one of the c100 connectors off the lt1 harness is a thick purple wire that needs to splice into your thirdgen c100 purple wire. Not sure about other model lt1's.

 

If I get the Vats shut off, could I run a wire right to the starter with the key in "run" mode and have it start?
