Engine Computers
I was just wondering if someone could answer this question. First of all When I got my 85 Z28 the guy had just put in a 350 TPI motor, in place of the original 305 TPI. The car usually runs great, but lately the throttle position sensor has been acting up, along with some other stuff. The question is if they did not replace the computer which is programmed for the 305 if that might be making it run different. So basically is there a different computer for a 305 than for a 350?

The "computer" itself is the same. However, the data it uses is different.
It's almost like having 2 identical computers, both running Windows, and both running Excel; but working on 2 different spreadsheets.
The data is contained in the "chip". Get or make a 350 chip, it then treats the engine as if it's a 350 instead of as if it's a 305. Although, for the most part, if you put 350 injectors in it, such that the relationship of the amount of fuel that it feeds to the size of the engine is the same as the 305, it will run pretty close to right.
