putting 350 in my bird
ok i'm going to do this soon, but i just wanted to make sure i have everything down. i am going to get a 350 short block and put it into my 305 tpi firebird. i am going to buy the following:
350 short block
lower manifold
headers
high flow cat
injectors
computer chip
is this all i have to change if i am going to swap the TPI unit onto the 350 block? i am going to use the 305 heads as well.... i know this question is probbaly asked a lot but i'd appreciate it
thanks
i'm also planning to rebuilt my 700R4 and put in a shift kit. does anyone know how much this would cost??? THANKS AGAIN

You don't have to change the intake base. A 350 one is the same as a 305 one.
You need injectors, a chip, and a 350 knock sensor. That's it.
Headers & new cat are a good idea though; the lack of them is choking your 305, they'll make an even bigger difference on a 350.

I would suggest not going with the 305 heads...reason being that the combustion chamber shap will rob you of torque low in the rev range thus destroying your horse power, granted you will make more horse power than the 305 with the set up you mentioned but nowhere near what you would with a 350 or aftermarket head. If you do use the stock 305 heads do yourself a favor and reshape/smooth the combustion chamber and, if you feel up to it, the intake port. You'll like the results better.
