Questions before swap
alright im getting ready to pull the 305 this weekend and try and get the 355 in.. few questions.. anyone know what kind of flywheel i have in my car so i can order the correct clutch.. think im gonna go with a centerforce stage 3, and i have a WC-t5 88 Iroc-Z, if anyone can shine some light that would be great... i was gonna get a custom dual friction clutch built by a local shop but i oculdnt tell them which spline and such i had lol.. and another, can i completly remove the ECM and harness form the car, im converting it to carb so, will i not need the complete harness? id rather try and sell it as a whole rather then pieces ripped off.. and i just replaced the fuel pump int he tank, which was a pain in the ****, and i was told im gonna have to drop the tank again and put something different in caus eim converting to carb.. anyways my question is what do i have to do to get my fuel pumping while leaving the pump int he tank.. i really dont want to drop it again.. just trying to get some thigns out of the way so when we do it it goes as smooth as possible. If anyone can shed some light on the subject id highly appreciate it, havent had my car in 6 months and its driving me crazy.. im so close! thanks guys i appreciate it.

If its the original engine, it should be the 1 piece rear main seal version for the flywheel. The input shaft is fine spline, which I believe is 26. there are some pretty good instructions in a tech article on this site about the conversion to non-computer control; I'd check that out for more answers. If your car is TPI, the fuel pressure is going to be way too high for a carb, and I wouldn't try to regulate it down. The best way would be to remove the old pump (not saying it wouldn't be possible to leave it in place, disconnected...never tried that, but at best I would think it would be a big restriction), and go with a carb-style electric external pump and regulator.
