v6 to v8 lt1 carbed wiring HELP!!!
OK there are so many wiries on these cars. I went from a 2.8 v6 to a carbed lt1. I dont know whick wires I can cut. I have all phantom auto meter gauges. I want to keep my lights and power stuff in the car. Anyone know which wires are for the old engine that I do not need.
Since you are going carb'd with HEI you shouldnt need anything from the passenger side harness. Unplug it from inside the fender and take it all out. YOu will need the pink and tan wire set that plugs into the coil for your HEI distributor. I just did this a few months ago and its perfect.

Just be sure toi lable all the wires you remove...you will need the starter wires as well as the alternator wires.......Lableing is the key...a little tape and a pen will be your best friend...

dont cut any wires from the pass. side just yet. you start cutting you just might loose something you want . Just roll up that harness and tuck it back around the fender well . When the car is running and everything is working...start eliminating the wires , one at a time. Then if something goes, you will know the culprit.
