Is This LT1 Worth The Asking Price?

Hey I have the chance to get a '93-'94 (he wasn't sure, one of the two) z28, wrecked, for $1500.
The car has 50,000 miles, drives but is way past the point of restoring (frame damage, severe body damage) but at least I know it runs. The dash is smashed, but I could still use the seats, the console, and the door panels, and sell stuff like the rear hatch and whatnot.
I'd also plan on using the lt1, the tranny (700r4) and the rear end which has disc brakes and I'd assume you couldn't get a disc brake option without a posi, and since it's a z it'd be geared aggressively (well for a stock car)

And, my dad would be trading this car in exchange for some of his labor, so 1500$ worth of labor for him, he'd charge me like $750.

Does this sound good?
Plus I'd have my entire drivetrain to sell out of my car (350, 700r4 in great working condition) and then I'd sell everything out of it too. So it'd be a lot of work but this would end up being really really cheap.
And p.s. I know it's the opti-spark system of the 94 era, but I don't think I could afford to replace that now, plus I heard they don't crap out 'til about 75k...

Yeah it seems like a no-brainer to me (do it!) but what do you guys think?

Sounds almost too good to be true.

Def do it, doesn't get much cheaper then that for a drivetrain plus some interior parts, even if it turns out to be a 93 it's still a good deal.

The trans is a 4l60(similar to 4l60e) and it doesn't necessarily have to be geared aggresively just because it is a Z. Not changing the opti just because you don't have the money now would be a mistake. While it is out, it is much easier. Don't put the motor in until you have the $$$ to buy one and put it on. In fact, you should change all the normal wear items(plugs, wires, water pump, etc). That is insurance for later down the road.

Leave the opti and upgrade to the later vented model when you can. It's not like its going to go to **** the second you try and drive it.

Thanks for the input guys. I hope the rear end is geared somewhat low, I mean anything is better than the 2.77 that I have now
And while the engine's out we're gonna tune it up a little, plugs, wires, etc., and probably a cam swap. My dad said he'll work on the heads a little too, as he has made a living off building high performance engines for the past 35 years until recent retirement.

And I just met up with a kid the other night who has a 3rd gen lt1, as far as I know it was stock (from a vette), and he was telling me he's been beating '04 mach 1's. There's a kid who's great aunt or something left him with a crapload of money, so he's 16 and buys a brand new mustang mach 1, feeling all special. It must suck to get his *** handed to him by a 3rd gen
Can't wait for this!

I would build a bad*** sbc with him, but I plan on getting a 1st gen and building a freakin huge bbc in a couple years. (but I'll always keep my 3rd gen, I love the body style just as much as the 1st gen, just in a different way)
And if the this deal crashes then I'll just make a pretty modest rebuild 350 or 383.

The rear most likely has 3.23's.
