1985 5.0 to 1991 5.7
Hey everyone.
I got a couple of questions real quick..
I know the motor in my car right now is only pushin 155hp to the fly wheel when stock, and my new engine I just bought (5.7 outta a 1991 Z28 with 47k miles on it) has 255ish to the fly wheel..but how much difference will it make? I'll be putting in a set of Edelbrock 2102 Cams (i know people have good and bad things to say about it, but it was free so i can't complain). After everything is set up and done, would there be a big noticable difference from what i have now? And..how much difference would I notice with a 3.73 rear end gear? Thanks for your time reading this!!

that eldbrockcam isnt a good idea where its a flat tappet camshaft and the cam in the 91 350 the a roller cam.that roler cam will make more power that your eldbrock cam will.you need a cam that is roller for the newer style block 86 and newer i belive.the roller lifters can be reused over in most cases, remember the you will need better valve springs too with a bigger cam.you should see a noticable difference with the engine swap.

yeah stick with a roller cam.
And you'll see a heck of a difference.
Right now I have the same car you do, but I've driven the same engine you just bought a couple of times. It's MUCH faster.
With the engine you have now - stock - you can beat stock Dodge Neons and some Nissans and Hondas, anything past that is pushing it.
With that 350 you'll cruise past them like they're standing still.
Have fun with your new engine, hopefully I'll have my built 350 soon
