what would a good price on a 350 engine be, used or new? one of my friends recently offered to sell me the 350 engine he plans to take out of his 1980 chevy malibu when he buys a bigger better engine, he mentioned somehting about 383 strokers and 454s but i was working and trying to wait on customers while chattign to him, i dont think its the original engine, he already took a engine out of it, a 6 i believe to put this one in, he said it was still registered as a 6, but he has the v8 american muscle car virus or something and already wants more displacement, anywho he said hed sell it to me for $250 when he does pull it, i know id have to do other modifications to put a v8 in my 6, or so i believ ive read, im not the most mechanicaly inclied person, so i dont know exactly what i would have to do or if i could do it myself or with my dad backyard mechanic style, but is that a good price on the engine?

 

250$ is pretty good for a 350, since you can see it run ..
Id drive the car a bit.. see how it performes, smoke at start ups etc..

Either way, you'll change the heads and cam and such im sure ..

it looked in good shape, he started it up and it when he drove away it wasnt smokeing or anything so...
i havent gotten a very thurough look at it or gotten a ride in it yet, i work at a gas station and he happened to come by to fill it up, i was working so you know how that goes, part time jobs and such boss comes by and your outside fooling with your friends car, not gonna have to worry about prices on engines cause you wont have the job to pay for it anymore,
im not sure if he rebuilt it recently or not, he had metioned something about rebuilding an engine for the malibu back when he was still bombing around in his caprice, right after he bought the malibu, i dont know if that is the 350 engine hes running now or what, i havent seen him in a while and it was a short lived conversation, i was working and he was goign somewhere cause it was the 4th's weekend and i had ot ask other questions about how he was and what hed been up to and such since id last seen him
