LT1 swap Auto/T56
Is it possible to swap a LT1 that was originally in a a manual car to a 700R4? How much more work would it involve? Thanks

I don't really understand. Is your thirdgen an auto (700R4), and you want to swap just the LT1 in, and mate it with your auto? If so, yes it's possible, you just have to get a flexplate that goes to a 700R4, and possibly different starter.
There's nothing different about the LT1 engine itself, just the flexplate (auto) or flywheel (manual).

yes that is how it is, I am sorry for being vague. Besides that flex plate, I would also need a computer from an automatic car right?

no you dont need an auto computer
when you stick a 700r4 behind a LT1 it is just like having a T56 behind it
you dont need anything special

Yeah it will bolt right up, you need an auto flexplate of course, you'll also need the throttle body, throttle cable bracket, and TV cable from a 93 f body.
After that you need a way to compensate for the different vss pulse to the pcm.

Couldn't you just get the computer from a '92 or '93 auto LT1? Would that work, since the computer would recognize the VSS signal from the 700R4, since it originally came with a 700R4?

I was originally thinking that using a 93 computer would work, but in that case, should I just find a whole motor from a 93?

They still used the different pulse VSS IIRC, even the T56 and 4L60E use two different pulses, i guess if your dead set on a non electric controlled trans a 4L60 from a 93 behind a 94-97 T56 motor wouldnt be a bad idea, otherwise you've got to get a little bit creative, you'd be best off just getting a motor / auto trans combo.
