Ls1 Ac

I was originally going to swap in an LT1 in my 86 IROC, but I came across a complete LS1 and T56 for a deal I couldn't pass up. My IROC came with no engine or tranny, so I don't have any of it's original accessories either. I have thought about the relocation brackets to allow me to run an original 3rd gen AC compressor on the LS1, but then I'd also have to buy a new compressor. My LS1 came with all of its accssories on it including the 4th gen LS1 AC compressor.

I know how to clearance the K-member and I have motor and tranny mounts on order. I also am looking for a set of truck coil packs to clear the AC box.

I read in a Hot Rod article something about using 97ish V6 firebird AC lines to do the basic fitment, but I don't know if they have any of the correct fittings on them or what I will need to do. Has anybody on here gone through with the swap and kept AC in the car using the LS1's compressor? How is the AC in the car using R134a anyways?
