lt1 manifolds and y pipe on a 3rd gen

so can i use my stock lt1 manifolds and y pipe on my third gen?? i have read a few post with yes and a few with no... im a bit confused..

They will bolt onto the engine fine, but they won't fit you car's chassis properly.

This is also why you can't use 4thgen headers in a 3rdgen.

Not really. The manifolds may work, but the pipes won't.

The pipes aren't really worth all the work anyway. They are just as restrictive as any stock 3rdgen exhaust is.

Just have a new Y-pipe made, or buy a already made one for a 3rdgen chassis. You'll be money and time ahead.

so you are saying that a thirdgen y-pipe will bolt up to the LT1 manifold? or did i misunderstand.. i need new manifolds and i can get the lt1 manifold very cheap that is why i wanted to know... thanks

Nope, only a 4thgen Y-pipe will bolt up to 4thgen manifolds. Thats why they won't work, because of the Y-pipe. The 4thgen Y-pipe will not fit a 3rdgen chassis.
