help with swapping from a 305 to a 350
i am planning on taking out the old 305 tbi and 700r4 tranny from my 88 camaro, and putting a 350 engine with a turbo 350 tranny. the rear end is a 10 bolt with 2.73 gears in it. I dont know if i need to beef the rear end up or not,, not sure how many horses the new engine will get.. More than the 305. Any other mods im not sure of for now. If anybody has any other suggestions i would surely appreciate it..'
Thanks!!!

I run a 355ci with a turbo 350 trans. The motor has somewhere around 375-400 horse. Although now I think I'm going to put a built 200-4R or 700-R4 trans in mine. I have 3.73 gears in the rear and with the turbo 350, it's just way too much in the rpm's when out on the open road. I just went to the Camaro Show down at Summit this past weekend and running the freeways and turnpike was no fun with the nearly 3500-3800 rpm's I was going to just do the speed limit. I used 3/4 tank of gas to go about 120 miles, not good at all, let alone the howl of the engine.
If I was you, I would get the 700R4 rebuilt with some performance parts to stand up to the horse power you want to have and swap out those 2.73 gears with some 3.73's or even 4.10's and then you can have some real fun while still getting lower rps'm on the freeway. Just my opinion though. Good luck and have fun with it, I know I sure do with mine.
