Started Lt1 up for the first time but have big problem.

I was excited to get the lt1 started but had high idle and the headers would glow after a few minutes. Figured it had something to do with fuel so I checked the pressure and it wouldn't even move the needle. Do I have something hooked up wrong? I order fuel lines form lt1intake, I think they only hook up one way. I hear the fuel pump kick on and the car runs so i guess it almost has to be the fuel filter or worse the pump! Any Suggestions??? It was a tpi car

If its a new motor break- in period then it could be the cam. Or, your timing is retarded too much and or you have unburned fuel in the headers. It could also be valve lash.

That wouldn't explain the zero fuel pressure. I was thinking that it is burning way to lean.

zero fuel pressure means it doesnt run.

obviously its running... so id start by getting another gauge. or checking how this one is hooked up.

as far as the headers glowing, the first two things id check would be timing and valve lash.

I played with it till I got I to work fuel pressure is ok but have a high idle between 1500 and 1750. I fixed an exhaust leak on the drivers side and now only the third one back glows on that side all four on the passenger side glow but I haven't installed the second O2 sensor yet

Once you get it all hooked up (O2 sesors included) then worry about tuning it.

IMO, you shouldn't even be starting it without all the connections made.

I know, I know...you were probably excited - I would be too...but follow through with what needs to be done first.

HTH!
