need advice
Ok guys... I have a white 1986 Trans Am LG4, mods in the sig. I have been offered my friend's white 1987 GTA with the L98. The GTA has like 150k miles and already has the gold GTA wheels I want. It has a bunch of SLP mods like catback and headers. It runs I think a 14.7 now. He wants $2,000. The decision I need to make is to A: keep the 86 and find a 350 block so I can build the 383 or B: Buy the GTA, sell the T/A, and use that 350 for the 383. I drive my Blazer daily, so if I bought the GTA i wouldn't put many more miles on it. I have to wait for the money to somehow find its way into my account for the 383 swap anyway. Thanks for any advice in advance. Later

The question you have to answer for each scenario is, "Why would I want to do that?"
I'm afraid only you can answer.

Well any suggestions? Would it be easier to use the 350 in the GTA or go to Englishtown and get one in the spring swapmeet for the 86? I guess eventhough its all up to me, I still need a little direction from people who know. I've never driven or owned a 350 L98 so maybe someone with one could let me know what i'm missing? If this is pointless just let me know...

In your situation, I would buy the GTA and keep it as it is - with "improvements", of course.
I'd look for a 350 builder for the '86, and go nuts on it for Englishtown.
That is assuming I had a place to keep all those cars, which I don't. The '57 is my racer & "keeper", the Camaro is the driver and street "fun" car (with no plans for parting with it). When there's money that can be spent, it tends to go to the '57. Right now, I need to clean it up a little bit before Pomona next month. That means the 350 shortblock project for the Camaro is officially on hold (well, my older brother "stealing" our other brother's 350 core is part of that, too...).

I wish I had the money or space for both. I would have to sell the 86 if I got the GTA. Thanks for the help, this definitely isn't the first time you've helped me out. I think if I got the GTA I would have fun with it for a while and then convert it to the 383. It would be nice to have a 14 second car for a while and then go 383 rather than go from a 16 second LG4 to hopefully all motor 12s.
