Will an LS1 swap cause any emission problems?

In a word no. But you must retain all pollution equiment. cats ,egr etc. My LS1 with a cam runs much cleaner than the 305 TBI ever did.

This is true. Cam profiles and really slick OBD11 stuff keeps the LS1 cleaner than any 3rd gen. The later LS1 f-bods didn't have EGR if that tells you anything.
