that engine in the url you posted what does it have as far as internals and what heads does it have on it ?
need more info to make an assesment weather its good or not
as far as the 305 in your car now the difference in a longblock and a shortblock is
longblock = engine plus heads
shortblock = just the block and internals no heads

Yes.
65-67 - crank journals are "small" size.
68-up - crank journals are "medium" size.
65-68 - no accessory holes in the heads (as mentioned).
65-85 - two-piece rear main crank seal. Uses a different flexplate than 86-later.
86-later - one-piece rear main crank seal. Uses a different flexplate than 85-earlier.
65-79 - driver's side dipstick.
80-up - passenger side dipstick.
65-86 - perimeter bolt valve covers.
87-up - centerbolt valve covers.
65-86 - all intake manifold bolts at 90 degrees.
87-up - center two intake manifold bolts on each side at 72 degrees, rest 90 degrees.
65-87 - slotted pushrod holes to align valve rockers.
88-up - "self-aligning" valve rockers.
And, the Number 1 difference:
65-67 - no 350's (except a few rare '67 Camaro 350's).
