89 corvette block torn down, now what?

Parts I currently have:
- ported and polished stock TPI Plenum/ port matched/ everything
- AS&M runners
- Ported and polished stock TPI intake
- 52mm throttle body
Aluminum Corvette heads that willl be ported and polished
Any other suggestions on valve jobs, etc????
- Ceramic coated Edelbrock headers with air tubes
- 3 inch Edelbrock cat-back exhaust
- Hi- flow cat
- aluminum driveshaft
- Fidanza Aluminum flywheel

Planning on mating it with a t-56 6 speed.

And a 89 Corvette block that needs to be build up. I DO NOT race my convertible. Just want a bad a$$ Iroc.

having it bored .030. What is to be gained with .060 over?

I'm thinking 1.6 roller rockers. Best type? Heard aluminum aren't the best

Upgrade the lifters and push rods?

Not sure on the cam. Maybe something in the lower RPM range. No need to go 120mph, getting to 60-80 asap is my goal. But keeping decent highway gas milage.

I believe my iroc has the 3.72? posi rear. That a good enough ratio, yes?

One last thing, about my pistons and connection rods. Is lighter better? What is good since I will need new ones once the block is bored?

Any suggestions and help with be appreciated. I know a little about this stuff, but not how it all comes together.

Thanks in advance

You wont need new rods, just pistons. Keep the cam within the bounds of the TPI system. And its not a corvette block, its a SBC roller block. Or an L98.

Ok, an L98 from an 89 corvette. Got it. Good to know about the rods. Any suggestions on the brand of pistons?

Depends on what you want really. You will find that a lot of the pistons are really made by the same people, just packaged in different boxes. IMO you basically have two different kinds. Cheapo Rebuilders and Name brand ones. Name brand ones are nice, but you can get by on the cheapos real easy. The Big thing isnt name, its type Cast, hyper, or forged. Forged if going forced induction or giggly juice, hyper for a solid performance engine, and cast for a budget build or mild street engine. Not saying that cast wont work, i know lots of guys with 400+ hp engines with cast pistons, cast crank and stock rods.

If it were me, I would do it this way.

1. Nitrous or forced induction-forged
2. Radical or semi-radical street/strip motor--hypers or forged
3. Mild, or semi-stock engine -cast

Hope I didnt babble too much!
