LT1/4 dyno numbers

Went to the dyno at Horsepower Engineering in Houston Wednesday. Threw it up on the Mustang Dyno they've got there and got 3 pulls. Best pull was 318 hp at 5900 rpm, 330 tq at 4200 rpm, but torque is above 300 all the way from about 2500, it was rediculously flat. A/F started out on the money at 12.7, climbed to about 13.1 at around 4500 rpm, slowly rose up to about 13.5 at 6100. Was going to try and bring that down some with Tunercat but I got a cable error before I could load the new tune. Overall, I was pretty happy with it, especially since I know my HP "peak" now, never really peaked. From 5000 to 6100 was only about a 5-7 hp difference.

Mods are:
'95 LT1
stock GMPP LT4 heads, intake, Hotcam
Proform 1.6 roller rockers
custom 52 mm TB
SVO 30# injectors
Taylor 10mm race wires
Hedman 1 5/8" shorty headers with custom 3" y-pipe and 3" Mccord Power Plate

I've got a printout from the dyno, as well as videos of 2 of the runs, but it make be at least a week before I can get the video on the computer.

yup, stock valve covers, no modifications.

f-crazy - Mustang Dyno. they dyno lower than Dynojets. Besides, I have no problem with new SS's.

Wasn't the original LT4 in the vette's 330hp at the crank? If so, then I'd say you're right on the money. Still though, great numbers considering you have basically "stock replacement" parts from GM and not aftermarket stuff. Mike davis made 342hp on the hot cam and some AFR's and a HSR with a great tune, so you might have a little more in that engine to get out.

i understand that, but my stock cammed LT4 trapped almost 109.. and it wasnt even a LT4 cam, it was a stock 94 LT1 cam...you should be trapping 111-112..

Different DA, car weight, etc, etc could be contributing factors. There is no "standard". Every car is different.

Nice numbers TexasLT1.

I'm positive I do. I've got a slight mis-fire/hesitation down low that might carry into the higher rpm's that I'm searching for, new wires are going on tomorrow and I think that might help. All but one of the plugs looked good, one of them looked slightly lean compared to the rest. I've also been playing with the timing tables, right now I've got the stock LT4 timing maps loaded, but I think I can play with those a little more and might pick up some more up top. Probably won't be going back on the dyno till summer though.

But yeah, stock LT4's were 330 at the crank, Hotcam kit supposedly makes 425 at the crank, I think I would dyno about 330 at the wheels on a Dynojet, which would come out to around 400 at the flywheel. Overall I'm happy with it as it is, but I'm going with a bigger cam after I hopefully do a T-56 swap this summer.
