i 1 hour to bid on a 1979 350. will it fit my 1986 t-5 transmission

You let the cat out of the bag.... now I'm going to bid on it, too. Just kidding. I think it will fit, but you might need a different flywheel and starter. At least I did when I put a '79 350 in my '86, but it is an automatic, too. Maybe someone else will confirm this.

what about the rearmain seal

what about the rearmain seal? i dont know the diff or what it means.

Our '86s do have a 1-piece rear main seal and the '79 will be 2-piece, but that won't make a difference on how it fits. I do like the 1 piece rear mains because they are less prone to leaking, but of course you'll pay more for one usually because there are a lot more of the old style blocks out there. If the engine comes with the main caps, oil pan, and crankshaft, then you'll just use those off that engine.

It will require a different type of flywheel, like that used on '82-'85 3rd gen manual transmissions.
