This applys to F-body's. The motor generation changed were always a year ahead for the vette.
'82 thru '92 were Gen I motors (TBI, TPI, LG4 etc)
'93 thru '97 LT1's were Gen II motors and shared the same basic external geomtery and part design as a Gen I with some different features such as reverse cooling heads and a distibutorless ignition (Opti Spark). The '98 thru '02 LS1 is a Gen III motor and shares next to nothing with the other two. Nothing on it is interchangable (minus a few meaningless things). The LS2 is the Gen IV motor and the differences of that to the LS1 are much like the differences from the Gen I to the Gen II LT1. They share the same basic geomtery and part design with just some improvements and advancments in engine technology.
