Preparing for new engine
I was throwing out the idea of swapping to TPI but my mechanic is going to charge me a lot to do it right. So I talked to my parents and they decided to help me purchase GMPP's 350/330hp cause it comes with a warranty they are only paying for the long block and the price to install it. I have made a parts list and need help incase I have forgotten something. If someone could also make sure all these parts go together. I have done my research and I think I have everything covered. They only things I will be using from my car are Distributor and Carburetor everything else will be brand new. If you see something on my list that doesn’t really need to be replaced and can get from my 305 please tell me means less money I have to spend.

This is a graphic example of why a $3000 budget doesn't cut it for an engine swap ("But the crate motor is only $2400...")
I think you can save a little money on some of those items, though. You can get a SFI 153-tooth one-piece RMS flexplate from Summit for $90. Similar savings possible on starter. You probably don't need a $22.50 PCV valve or $70 thermostat housing, either. But, whatever...

Oh, doesn't look like you included shipping for the crate engine, either...

Sounds like you have a pretty good list of the parts that you know you need. Now i would recomend shoping around for different prices. Summit is a good place to start, or even the parts store thats close to you. The crate you should be able to get from a GM dealer.

Ok, new revised a few based on your replies.
B&M Flexplate 153 Tooth------BMM-20238----------89.88 (Summit does not offer a 1-pice seal flexplate)
Summit Chrome Water Neck------SUM-G3801-------8.95
Also can I reuse my fuel pump mounting plate? Because I really don’t want chrome one but it is the only one I could find. But some of the parts are just worry free parts. I went to a Mini starter cause I have headers and don’t plan on coating them soon. The PCV is expensive cause I really hate the large round ones its the best looking one I have found if anyone has the GM part number for the stock one I would rather use that. I also thought the HEI upgrade really isn’t necessary, later down the road I will upgrade to MSD Super HEI setup the one with the 6AL box. As far as the Dipstick is the flexible one good since I have headers? Or should I just reuse the one I have on my car that’s already modified for the headers? I also went with a aluminum water pump to help disipate heat but i been thinking would a Highflow Iron pump keep temps down?

FYI: Summit Racing does price matching. Only things they require is the website, catalog, or store you're matching a price to is the same exact part, has a store front (some places do drop shipments to keep prices low), and there is some way for them to either phone in or look up the URL to verify the price. I've used that to buy several parts that summit had to knock 50 to 100 bucks off there catalog price.
Another tip is to order all your stuff at once if you can afford it. Summit charges around 9.95 fee for each order to cover shipping. But it's still 9.95 even if you buy 1400 dollars worth of small parts. That's what I've done.
Believe me all your price watching will still get out of hand if you're not careful. I started out with a 4k budget and I'm around 7.5k spent now.

I was looking on summit what’s everyone’s opinion on this engine its the New 350/290hp motor looks like only difference from the 350/330 is its missing the Vortec heads and does not have a dual pattern cam. But its also $1000 less, opinion please. It also has a 2-Piece rear main so I can reuse my starter and flexplate!

These 350 c.i.d. small blocks are the best value from the big GM Performance Parts stable of crate engines. They crank out a solid 290 HP at 5,100 rpm, with 325 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,750 rpm, and a torque curve that's tabletop-flat from 3,000 rpm out past 5,000. Best of all, with their 8.5:1 compression ratio, they do it all on ordinary 87-octane unleaded regular fuel. They're built with all-new parts, including a 4-bolt-main block, a nodular-iron crank, powdered-metal rods, cast aluminum pistons, and a high-volume oil pump. The flat-tappet hydraulic cam has 0.450 in. of intake lift, with 0.460 in. for the exhausts. Duration at 0.050 in. of lift is 222 degrees for both the intakes and exhausts, and lobe separation is 114 degrees. The cast-iron heads have 1.94 in. intake valves and 1.50 in. exhausts, with 7-bolt exhaust flanges, and 1985-and-earlier 12-bolt/90 degree intake flanges. These engines come fitted out with painted valve covers (perimeter bolts), a timing cover, timing pointers for both 6 in. and 8 in. harmonic balancers (not included), and an oil pan. The block is drilled for both left hand and right hand dipsticks, and you get a plug for whichever hole you do not use. These 350s are great entry-level replacement engines for older cars and trucks, and also make great basic mills for street rods.

A lot of the parts you have listed are un needed IMO. All those ARP bolts for the little things are not needed and bolts can be found at any hardware store. I not sure what the prices are of the ARP bolts but it may look like they are cheap at say $5 and $10 but add them all up. I see no need for ARP water pump bolts, fuel pump bolts. also, those Made for you wire looms, put them on the back burner, use something cheaper for now to get the wires dressed up. water pump gaskets($30.00) holy crap. Go to autozone and get some for under $5.00. that coolant housing can be ditched as well. no need for that exspensive piece right now. powermaster starter, (200.00) put the money somewhere else. There are remanufactured starters for under $75. Lokar dipstick can be put on hold as well, just use you old one or buy a brand new GM one for $15(or less maybe), billet PCV valve can wait. get one from autozone or the dealer when you buy the new dipstick tube.
I dont see any carb in there. Do you plan on reusing the stock one or the one yo uhad before?

If it were me,I'd go for the 330 hp 350 and skip a lot of the bells and whistles.
For example:
You should be able to get a stock type flexplate at your local parts store for 20-30 bucks.I can't see why you'd need an SFI flexplate on that mild of an engine.
I'd either reuse your starter or go get a $30 stock rebuild at your local parts store, you shouldn't ever have a problem.I've used stock starters with headers a bunch without problems.
I also agree that while they may be pretty, the ARP bolt kits are a bit pricey for what they are.I'm with BottledZ,go to your local hardware store and get all the new bolts and washers you need for $10 or less.
The chrome housings are pretty, but you can but a new iron thermostat housing for about $4 at autozone.
Why use a $14 fuel pump pushrod?Reuse the one you have,it's free!
I'd also skip the high dollar fuel pump and get a good quality stock replacement pump,it should be up to the task of your fuel delivery needs.
Same with the high flow water pump.A good stock replacement pump should cool your new engine fine.
While the air gap is a very nice intake, you could shave some money off and get a regular Performer RPM.
Reuse your dipstick,again,it's free.
Do these things, and you'll have saved enough to buy the better engine, and a nice Holley Street avenger to set on top of it.
Just my two cents, but I've made the mistake of spending too much on bling and cutting corners in the wrong places. The result is a pretty engine that is dissappointing to drive.

Yes I made a lot of provisions based on what people have said but the 350/330hp motor is going to cost me $1000 more for 30hp and 20tq. Its 114.11 for all the bolts but they are also stainless so I kept a few like motor mount bolts, balancer bolts, starter bolts and intake bolts. Factory replacement Water pump is around $50 Weiand's Pro-Action is $70. It gets pretty humidit here is the summer so I want to be able to use the A/C and not have to worry about it over heating in traffic. I also switched to a Fram PCV replacement valve its $3.00. Here is the new list I start ordering parts tomorrow.

reuse your motor mount bolts if the threads are good and the hex head isnt rounded over, same goes for the starter bolts. I would also reuse your balancer bolt as well. that $45 in savings there
why do you need that CRS throttle cable bracket for $66?
why cant you reuse you starter, flexplate, and oil filter mount you are using now?
You will find that there will be at least a dozen things that you wil stil need that are not on that list. You still need:EDIT I just realized that a shop is installing your engien so some of these items do not apply:
case of oil
2 oil filters
tranny fluid( if you lost any removing your torque convertor)
coolant
belt(s)
distributor gasket(cheap but cant be forgotten)
carb gasket(s) not sure if your running a spacer)
thread locker(at least 2 tubes)
thermostat housing gasket(cheap but cant be forgotten)
NEW vaccumm lines(it would be retard if you used old ones)
Id the shop doing a complete job or just the engine install and maybe hooking the tranny up? You may be able to save some money if you do the little work yourself.

Id the shop doing a complete job or just the engine install and maybe hooking the tranny up? You may be able to save some money if you do the little work yourself.

Well I cant use my starter and flexplate the new motor is 1 piece rear main mine is 2 piece and starters changed after 83 I got a 84 car but 83 motor in it now cause I bought a 84 start when mine when out and it did not fit at all. I went to advance auto parts and got the part numbers for a 1992 z28 5.7L TPI car flexplate and starter so those should be good. But you think I should reuse all my bolts? I forgot about the distributor gasket and the thermostat gasket. I have carburetor gaskets. Left over from old rebuild kit. The shop is doing a complete job they are removing old motor removing old computer harness its just laying in the fender cause I disconnected it when I changed to a Speed Demon. They are also repainting my old brackets and all new hoses and so on. They CSR bracket is the only appearence item I have on there I just think they look good and I had bent my old throttle bracket so it works with new carb but doesnt work well still has slack in throttle cable. Also when you say a little work myself what do you mean cause i have to beable to drive the car to the shop.

That's the flexplate I'm using for my ZZ4 shortblock. I only mentioned the Summit part because it was much cheaper than the GM part you quoted (and I didn't know the Pioneer p/n off the top of my head...).

A $20 t-stat isn't needed. A cheap one can be found at any auto parts store for a few bucks. You'll also need a gasket for the t-stat housing, unless it comes with the t-stat housing.

I don't see what your point on the starter is. 1 or 2 piece seal doesn't matter. You just need a 153 tooth starter for a 153 tooth flexplate. I used the original 87 L69 starter on my swapped out old style '70 LT1'd 383ci. I have a custom flywheel for external balanced, but it's still 153 tooth to fit in the T5. That will save you alot right there. same with the water pump. I just painted my original one the same color as the block. And instead of buying all the gaskets separately, just buy a stock replacement gasket set. it's cheap as hell and has everything plus more.
