400sbc back from machine shop

Machine shop called today to tell me that the work involved to clean up my 400 block was going to run $1500.00+ . Two cylinders need to be re-sleeved, align bored, splayed mains, bored to .040, etc., etc. Well this is not a good day here. Instead of spending that much on a possible "Boat anchor", I'm thinking better to go with a Dart or Motown block.

Awhile back (three months or so) I found a site that was selling the World - Motown blocks for around $1400.00. This price I found was allot cheaper than Summit or Jegs (both around $2200.00). Now I cannot find that site. So, where is the best place to purchase a Dart or Motown block for a cheep a$$ like me.

Sounds to me like you're comparing a rough machined 350 block apple to a finish machined 400 block orange.

But, if such a discount house does still exist and you find it, let the rest of us know.

Well I am almost sure of that price on-line, someplace. Awhile back, when I was searching the boards for information on the 400sbc build, there were two URLs posted for Dart and World blocks. I followed them to check it out, and found the lower price there. I am hoping that I was correct, otherwise this is going to cost more than I would have liked. Oh well, that's the way things turn sometimes out. Thanks for all, Ed.
