ok i dont have a third gen yet but a friend of mine has offered me a 350 (76,000 mi) for 100 bux and i think im gonna jump all over it.......i really want a 350 iroc but 305 are cheaper so i was wondering how tough it would be to get the new engine (350) in to the iroc....i would imagine its very close to a direct swap but am not sure
btw: the 350 is from an 87 1/2 ton chevy

 

i'm not gonna jump all over your *** like others would but I can tell you that this is the most common engine swap on third gens, search these forums for a few minutes and you will find tons of info of this subject, what it all boils down to, the 350 is a better engine and most will agree, don't waste money on a 305, and yes they are almost always a direct swap with very little modifying....

 

One thing: LOSE THE HEADS that are on that! They are the infamous swirl-port garbage. Of the many varieties of very bad 350 heads that have been used over the years (for performance that is), those are near the top of the list.

Other than that, go for it.

 

thanks for the input guys i foiund a buy in town with a cheap 305 z and if i bought that id grab that 350 for it but right not my parents just bought me a truck that i have to drop some money in to pass inspection im putting pads and shoes on ti tomorrow and then a windshield sometime next week and hopefully ill be done i have to see how my money situation goes though
