help decipher this engine code please

I recently aquired a engine from a 78 nova for my Camaro. Its supposed to be a 350 but the harmonic balancer looks like its for a 400.I found a number under the alternator which is 18 (unreadable, looks like it may be a N ) 144691.

Anyone know what I have?Thanks.

If it's externally balanced, it's either a 383 or a 400, or it's been bastardized. There's only one way to know for sure.
