ok I think I'm posting this in the right place if not I appoligze..
ok I have a 1987 firebird had a 305 in it , it was changed to a 350 carb then i bought it for for a mere 500.00 anyways I got a brand new in the crate 350 now what i did was take the TPI off of 1989 Iroc put it on top of the 350 wiring harness and all ecm also now it should work or atleast I hoped it would... theres something a little thing I know I'm missing and can't seem to figure it out can anybody help? I got fuel, I got spark...it trys to start but well think you know what i mean ....

Was the 305 a TBI? sounds like a fuel pressure problem to me.

 

No it was TPI

I got it all done but for some reason it will not stay running it starts and dies just like that it has fuel pressure I'm thinking maybe the injectors or a couple have gone bad I'll be testing them here a few ...

 

IIRC The 305 and 350 TPIs were differently setup. They had different sensors.

And I think that the 305 has smaller injectors than the 350...

I THINK (not completely sure, havent looked too hard into the TPI swap) that you're gunna need a 305 EST, 305 injectors, and 305 knock sensor.... though you may want to do a little searching in the general tech board for "TPI Swap" and see what all is actually needed.


Have you verified fuel pressure? BTW

 

i swapped a 305tbi to a 350tbi, i had to change the knock sensor, spark module (the one on the firewall by the brake booster) and the injectors. the 305 injectors the car would not idle. if i took my foot off the gas for even a split second to switch the gears or stop revving it the car would stall. also had to change the computer but you said you already did.

 

just an update it was the vats from the 89 donor car so I wired that in and the car runs now for my next minor problem the speedo is not working and I don't have a plug to it off of the 89 wirng harness I have tryed wiring from the vss ppl and yellow wires to the trans but it still not working and its setting a code 24 so that means it will not pass smog until I can get this taken care of ...any suggestions? anyone?
