How to Wire a Starter from V6 wiring?
How to Wire a Starter from V6 wiring?
Hey guys,
I posted on a different thread...so I didn't want to get it mixed up.
I also tried to search, but no luck.
I am having a problem. I think I have the engine all wired up and nothing from the cranking side, when ignition turned.
I am swapping a 350 into my V6, it is a 1991 Firebird.
1))) I have seen that diagram (ref to "starter wire diagram" post) and I have wired it up as 2 fusible red wires to the battery post.....??? is this right.
Also, 2))) Trying to fully decipher that diagram, now I am wondering if I need a purple? wire attached to the S post? On the diagram I see 2 starter solenoids....or am I confusing myself.
3))))soo, I have a stock v6 wiring harness....how do you wire it, since my starter now has 3 posts.....Batt, S, and R.
Any info greatly appreciated!!
Thanks guys,
Franchise

purple to the s side for start r is for an old syle ignition all it does is put out 12v power that was used on point style ign sytems because of the res thay used if the car will not start and all of your gages seem to work try the netrual safty switch.
Guys,
Great info.
Is the purple a thicker gauge wire than the others under the hood?
Where is the neutral safety switch? What should I do with it if it does not fire?
Thanks for the great help!!
