LT1/L03 frankenmotor?

Instead of going through all of the hassle of wiring, rerouting every hose in my thirdgen, custom lines for nearly everything, can I build some sort of more powerful L03? I have all of the parts from both motors, but the hassle of the AC and everything else is pretty overwhelming. If I took the LT1, put the L03 intake manifold, water pump, and brackets on it, where would I stand in terms of modifications to the harness, etc? Would this even work?

well since you can't do any of what you just mentioned, I wouldn't worry about it.

you definitely can't use the LO3 waterpump on the LT1 as its totally different. the accessory brackets you might be able to with a lot of work. the intake you can't use because of the LT1's reverse flow cooling system. Either dump the LT1 off on someone, or put it in. It's not the hassle you make it out to be.

The intake you could do, but you'd have to redrill the thing for the sbc bolt pattern, it also probably flows like crap, not to mention the added tuning abilities of the LT1 pcm, you'd be very silly not to go with it. If you are that afraid of the wiring, pm me i can do the stuff for a reasonable price, and theres probably a few others around that might also.

It just seems like there's so many things that need to be made custom or modded to work... damn, it seems like there's no way this is ever going to get done. Guess I'll just stick with it. Where can I find all of the hoses and lines that I need?

It really isn't bad at all.....I counted a total of 8 wires (without VATS) that have to be spliced in to get the LT1 going. It seemed like a nightmare at first, but once I started tracing wires using the wiring diagrams on the LT1 swap sticky, and the copy of Mitchell's On Demand I had access to, it ended up being very easy. Mine was a bit easier since I had an underhood fusebox from a doner car that I pulled all of the crap out of I didn't need, which left me with AC relay, Fan relays, ignition fuses, injector fuses and fan fuses and only had to run 2 wires inside of the car, spliced them into the clear connectors on the passenger side of the car and the car started first run.

You will be happier in the long run to finish the LT1 swap in both power and gas milage.

The only hoses that you really have to have fabbed up are the PS hoses. My car has the PS cooler on it (the big metal line running across the bottom radiator frame) I took the PS hoses from the LT1 and cut them to where I wanted, made the other ends that went into the steering box, then took the setup to a place that makes hydraulic hoses and they put the special ends on the rubber hoses so they wouldn't blow off, cost me like 40 bucks or so to do that. As for the AC lines, I think TexasLT1 found that Carquest has some 90* fittings that will allow you to use the LT1 AC hoses with the 3rd gen setup if I'm not mistaken. For my heater hoses I just used standard hoses on it, but you can use the original metal lines and cut to fit hoses to goto the water pump as well.
