specs

com 270 h-10 cam
stock 79 350
416 heads
600 cfm edelbrock
Holley street dominator 300-38
.039 head gasket

I calculated my compression guessing at -4cc for the pistons and stock deck height of .015 and it came to 10.31:1. Would that be ok with 93 octane or will I blow holes in my pistons

The overlap in that cam will bleed off some cylinder pressure.

But with a good tune, you should be ok.

thanks that puts my mind at ease. I'll probably run octane boost just to be safe and it wouldn't be past me to splurge on $6/gallon turbo blue. Just read an interesting article

according to the article, run 87 and some booster, you'll get better results.

i was too, but i honestly felt like if you're gonna run the booster, why not run the cheap stuff first? save more money in the long run. assuming you can get away with that, anyway.

If the motor is a "stock" 79 350, you won't have to worry about any 10.anything compression.

It will have roughly 15cc dish pistons.

With a more realistic .025" of deck clearance, and the actual properties of a "stock" 79 350, I come up with about 9.3:1 CR.

I don't think you'll have any trouble with it.

It would run better with the XE268; those heads can use the bigger exhaust lobe.
