I'm not sure I'm following what you have and what you're after. If you have a complete TPI system and a complete running 400, what you need to get it installed & running is gaskets. How well it would run is the only remaining issue.

"Stock appearing TPI" pretty much means a stock TPI. The #1 restriction of that system is the stock runners, which, if changed, will be the first tip-off to a half-way knowing eye that it is no longer stock.

The base can be changed and still maintain stock appearance. The plenum can be ported without changing its appearance. The throttle body can be changed, but the new/bigger unit will likely have a non-GM name on it, again detracting from the "stock" appearance.

TPI on a 400 requires, at a minimum, base and runner changes in order to get any kind of power out of it. Plus plenum porting. Larger TB benefits is a debate I won't get into here (everybody does it, but GM uses the L98 48mm TB on their 502 HP 502 Ramjet crate engine).

Is it a Pontiac 400 or a Chevy 400?

If it is a Chevy 400, is it a small block or big block?

An '86 TPI and all the '86 brackets, etc., would bolt onto a SBC 400.

I think I'm finally starting to get a grip on what you have.

You have an '82 car, a 400 engine, and nothing else. Your options are to continue looking in junk yards for all of the TPI, AC, accessories & brackets; or check the classifieds on this Board.

You really don't want to try to piece this together. Buying the whole thing from one person, if possible, is the only sanity-preserving approach.
