305 TPI swap to LS1/700R4 and 10-bolt 3.73
Ok, I am looking into purchasing a 1989-1992 IROC Z that is completely stock. I want to do an LS1 swap with a 700R-4 transmission and a 3.73 10-bolt rearend. How hard would this swap be and what all do I need to change to make it fit?

The swap isn't bad, the stickies at the top of the page can get you in the right direction, you will have to swap motor mounts, notch the k-member (if you keep air) and do the wiring to hook up the gauges.
Don't use a 700R4 with the LS1, do a 4L60E since it is all computer controlled and you can adjust shift points, line pressure etc etc in the tranny, plus I don't think anyone makes a TB bracket that has the provisions for a TV cable.

Ok, after extensive reading on here it looks like it'll be easier to do a carb 350 swap. Main thing I'm seeeing is the clearance in the motor. Is this true?

If you want to do that swap get a 4L60E or a T-56. I would choose the T-56 bro.
