Possible 377 build-up questions
Possible 377 build-up questions
I am thinking about building a 377 motor for an 88-89 IROC with the original 305 TPI. Questions are; what head types (not necessarily brands) would be ideal? If I want to use a TPI setup, I am thinking of a LPE Superram or the TPIS high flow TPI setup, will I be able to find heads (new) for a 400 block that accept a TPI? Finally, where can I find a block for this engine?
Thanks a lot!

Welcome aboard.
Heads to fit a 400 block are no problem. Any Gen I SBC head will fit, you just need to drill the steam holes in the heads. You'll probably want heads with at least 180cc intake ports, maybe bigger, and 2.02/1.60" valves.
The Miniram is a sweet set-up with a high-reving engine. 377's need to rev, so keep that in mind.
World makes 4.125" bore blocks with 350 sized mains. A great place to start, but they are pricey. Otherwise, factory blocks are plentiful on eBay.
