Has anybody ever put a 403 in a 86 Trans Am before? I would like to put in a 1971 Oldsmoblie 403 in it. I got the car for $35. It didnt have a motor or trans when i bought it. It did have a 400 small block in it before i bought. I dont have to mess with wiring at all. Its already setup for an older motor. Any infomation or pics for a swap would be helpful. Thanks

 

They didnt make a 403 in 71, they came out in 77. I have heard of people doing a olds motor in a 3gen but havent seen a web sites.

 

my mistake, Im not sure what year it is then, but i know it is a 70's though. Were having some promblems with the motor mounts right now.

 

the 403 was around from 77 through 79. im pretty sure you can use the stock chevy frame mount and then you have to get block mounts from another GM that had a olds motor in it.

 

We got the motor mounts off of the Carprice that my dad put the 403 in. When i went to put them in the Trans Am, the bolt holes didnt match up. We going to put the mounts on the engine and then set it on the frame and see where it sits at, then go from there. Im going to ask some of neibors if the have any mounts that might fit. I got a lot of work to do to it. I hoping to have it looking and running good by next school year to take it to prom.

When your done, you are going to love the torque. But to really make the 403 fly it needs more cam and more compression. Here is two web sites that will help you.

Thanks Duke901, I'll put in a that cam and raise the compression, and probly put about a 700cfm holly duoble pumperon it after i get it running and get some more money. I tried to post some pics, but it keeps saying that the the file is to big, so i donno. I'll try it agin.
