Oil not coming up through the lifters to the heads

Here is the background,
I dropped this engine in this past weekend, and the engine had sat without oil for 7 months, before that it sat for a year.

I was unable to get much dry compression on some of the cylnders.

2 main problems included:

the car would idle at 5,000 rpms.

the heads were not getting oil.

I will be replacing the carb with a 4 barrel quadrajet to hopefully fix the idle.

Oil was coming out through only some of the lifters up and through to the rocker arms, some were just not getting anything.

The bottom end was rebuilt, the top end was not, so I know it has a new oil pump, crank, all bearings etc...

I was not sure if anyone has encountered this, or had any suggestions, Its getting to the point where I cannot put much more into this project.

it is a chevy 350, 2 bolt main, if there is any other information needed about the engine let me know. I am just curious if anyone has had this problem, and might know what it is.

I have a spare set of working heads, and intake, gaskets and all for them. I wasn't sure if it could just be bad lifters, clogged rod's etc etc.

Thanks in advance

Not sure exactly what your problem might be but here's some interesting reading about top end oiling problems with a BBC Dart block. It might help or at least point you in a direction to look for something.

Not sure on oil pressure, no ticking at all, just the engine idle'ing at 5,000 rpms, could it be that the lifters aren't working fully correctly and that they are just lifting? but not pushing up the oil?

I am in the midst of hooking up mechanical oil pressure, I won't be able to check the oil pressure for a little while.

"Are they roller, or flat tappets? " I am not sure which are which, I am sorry, my ability is limited to only 3 years of limited engine / mechanical experience, but from the pictures they look to be flat tappet. When the bottom end was rebuilt we also replaced 4 lifters that were going bad.
