k....this may be a stupid question but if you've seen/answered any of my previous posts on gen engine, you know Im starting to look into the field. I would love to drop a zz4 in my maro with the minor mods to get it running, but I dont have the funds for it. But say I decided to do this...would this work?
Get a 350 block (I think I need a 4 bolt mains) block is pretty much bare cept a crank, and isnt cracked.
Then buy one of these GM summit kits (I know their hp ratings will greating differ but could these be beneficial and give me something with a decent umph over my LG4)
summit part # - TFS-K314-350-400

Wow.... Beautiful Car!
Camaroguy18,
Just took a look at your website and WOW. That car looks great!
Apparently, you've done a bunch of killer suspension mods and obviously the paint looks great.
My son and I put a old 350 4-Bolt ('74) into his ride and used a complete '86 LG4 harness to operate it. It runs like a BULLET and will probably pass an emissions inspection. Later on (MUCH LATER - LOL) when he is spending his own money we can upgrade the heads and other items with ease to get more power. Although it's actually on the borderline of TOO-Powerful as it is!!!
I don't think we'll actually every NEED the 4-bolts.... There's not that much perfomance under the hood and probably never will be. In addition, some guys at TGO think the 4-bolt is a draw-back anyway. I however get the "WARM-FUZZY" knowing it's a 4-bolt. I'm not sure there are any real performance of reliabilty gains provided by the 4-bolts unless you're going totally nuts with performance adders it's probably a non-issue.
Sincerely,

Well, let's see: That kit; plus the 350 shortblock (say $150 for that), plus about $800 to buy what you need to complete the block and machine work to rebuild it; then intake and exhaust, another $1000 or so. I wouldn't be able to afford it, but if your low level funds can cover it, then it would be a pretty good running engine.

Mine has been done in three stages: The original V6 car purchase and donor V8 car in May 1999, ~$1500 to get it on the road; then upgrades to the swapped-in LG4 (heads, cam, intake, full exhaust), ~$1500 in 2001; and the latest ZZ3 shortblock (which needed rebuilding), tranny and head refresh, and header coating, ~$2100. Plus rear end (for posi), wheels, tires, struts/shocks, windshield, paint, etc., along the way (actually, the struts/shocks & windshield were part of the original get-it-on-the-road).
In each case, I thought I'd get it done for less than it ended up costing.
