350 zz4 into '86 IROC- What all should be done Computer wise

Ok- Heres the scoop- I am in the middle of swapping my zz4 into my IROC when i get a call from a guy wanting to buy my old 305, and we get onto the subject of my new engine..
and he says that i need to have my computer reprogrammed, add a chip, do something with my MAF sensor ( like route something around it) and get an MSD distributor.

OK- here is my setup so you can let me know what i should do if i am going to make my 400hp goal

zz4 358ci engine with Vortec heads. 9.75 compression ratio forged flat top pistons, forged rods, forged crank, balanced rotating assembly,- block 355 fwhp. Vortec's add 20-30 hp
I have the Vortec TPI baseplate from edelbrock, the Edelbrock High Flow TPI runers, and I had my Plenum ported and polished from Corvette Plenum.com ( add maybe another 20 hp?)
I was planning to stay with the stock distributor, but get different wires.
Got rid of the AIR system, and am going to try to run the AC with the new engine.
as for exhaust - went with a set of Flowtech TPI shorties and am planning to run a 2 1/4 inch dual exhaust in the stock location with dual Dynomax Bulett mufflers and going with some 4th gen z28 or 2nd gen chrome T/A tips.
running the stock 700r4 trans also.

Ok- here is where i need you-
what do i need to do to optimize my power out put- we are looking for somewhere around 325-350 rwhp- hopefully. it has the stock trans, driveshaft, and rear end ( of which i havent figured out which gear set it has in it yet)

Thankyou everyone!

Sounds like the guy reads more magazines than he builds cars. Think about it, he's buying a 305 engine...

"Computer reprogrammed" and "add a chip" - does he think those are two different things? Okay, the engine would probably benefit from PROM tuning, but it isn't required to run and run well. Although you didn't say anything about the cam, assuming you're running the ZZ4? No need for an MSD distributor.

Most likely you'll need a higher stall converter to get the most out of the car.

The cam is the zz4 spec cam- and as for a converter- yeah i was kinda thinkin that also- but i dont really have the $400 to spend on one..- the only drag strips around here are 1/8th mile, and street racing is only about that also- occasionaly you'll be able to go for a lil longer.
This car is to also be my daily driver so i dont want to go to much twards the Strip side..

Also- what should i look for when ordering a chip- will any 82-92 350 tpi chip work with the computer that cam in my IROC originaly with the 305 ???- So many questions- please answer..
Thanks

If you really need to buy a chip instead of doing it yourself, Ed Wright is probably your best bet. He can sell you a new PROM that will drop into your existing computer and should be a reasonably close tune.

You'll want 24 lb injectors, like the Ford SVO ones in Summit and elsewhere. New engine, new and bigger injectors.

You should get a knock sensor for the 350, they're usually different part #s than teh 305 ones.

If you are going to go somewhere to get a new chip, they will need to know the cam specs, engine mods, trans, rear gears. All of these facors play into the chip tuning. If they don't ask any of these questions, don't buy anything from them.
