Anyone From Jersey???????

aite sick thats the kind of answers i was looking for. One of the reasons i was wondering about all this is because i just reciantly bout a 84 camaro z28 with the 305 quadro jet. After i bought the car and had it back at my place i realized that the air pump, some of the sensors, and other small parts were missing from inside the engine compartment, and my dad made a good point and told me that i mite need 2 get everything in tact for incase they do a visual check up under the hood of my camaro. And if you guys say you didnt have any problems or anything than i should b alrite. I figured they didnt do a visual inspection because the car has a good inspection sticker on it as of rite now, and there are some stock parts that arent in tact. The biggest concern of mine was that id drop a 350 crate motor in that puppy and than have a million and one problems trying to get it to pass inspection.

Now another thing i was considering was customizing my own exhaust system for this camaro. I figured run tru dual exhaust off the headers, have each exhaust pipe have a catalytic converter on either side and then have them angle out b4 the rear tires. Do you guys think ill have any problems with that. mayb for the car being too loud or not having mufflers etc.

And another thing i was wondering about was do you guys no anything about classic plates qq plates or historic plates. Do you no if an 84 camaro qualifies for any of these specific plates. I dont think it does, not at least for another 3 years but hell u all probably no a little more about the 3rd generation camaros than me. Im still in the learning process

Your Dad correct. I remember Jersey was a real PITA in regard to emissions. I have several friends in N.J. and they ALL complain (almost as much as the California Guys do)!.

In my home state of PA, and in my current state of GA, it is MANDATORY to have the vehicle re-inspected within a fixed period of time (30 days in GA) after the purchase of a vehicle. It is VERY UNLIKELY (basically impossible) your vehicle will pass ANY sniffer/emission test without the missing equipment. If they look.... your definately in trouble!

....customizing my own exhaust ..... I figured run tru dual exhaust off the headers, have each exhaust pipe....angle out b4 the rear tires.
There is not much room under a 3rdGen for "True Duals" many guys have done it but there is not a provision in the floor pan for such a system. Ground clearance will be a problem. You can get the same performance gains from a single 3" catback system. You're most likely gonna need "Air-Compatible" Headers for New Jersey!

In addition, many states will NOT allow an exhaust to exit prior to the "Back of the REAR-MOST" passenger seat. I am somewhat confident that this is a universal regulation. You might see this kind of thing on a pick-up or an Vette but when was the last time you saw this on any other vehicle?

Hope you have deep pockets 'cause those disturbing-the-peace tickets will get mighty expensive after a couple weeks without a muffler! I also think you'll be tired of it after listening to it for a day or two......

You'll should call N.J. DMV. Georgia is 25 years, my son's '82 qualifies next year as it was "MANUFACTURED" in 1981. Every state is different.

Hope this helps,
Kurt
