New motor prep
A local machine shop was closing down and the guy was my sisters boyfriend. So, he got some 350 motors that were rebuilt but never sold, one of which it going into my sisters 86 camaro. Now there is a 350 long block sitting in the garage, and before we go and install it, I want to do some prep to the motor. Onle reason, even though its a rebuild, it was rebuilt in the late 90's. It has some crappy stamped rocker arms, the numbers on the block show it to be a 69-79 350 2-bolt. The heads are from an early 305. Cam is unknown, and will be replaced with a very mild grind. It also has a double roller timing chain of unknown make, but we will keep it.
The motor is for the most part in decent shape. It has just gotten dirty from sittinf. I want to take the heads off, inspect the cylinders and overall give it a good cleaning. Is there anything else I can do prep wise to make sure the motor operates smoothly for inital start-up?
