IS IT OK TO START THE BUILD UP

I am building a 383 stroker, but I do not have all the parts for it yet. My question was, is it okay to start assembling the engine? I was wondering if the assembly lube would dry up from it sitting, while it/I was waiting for the rest of my parts to complete the project. It could sit for weeks or months on the engine stand until I have enough money for every last part. Is it okay to start putting it together, like installing the bottom end and camshaft?

It will be fine if you lube it with assembly grease. Just keep it covered when you're not working on it to keep dust out of things.

Okay, great. That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. Letting it sit for awhile wont affect the initial start up either? I know the first start is the most critical.

No, nothing changes while it's just sitting there.
