OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEWer..
Could someone please advise...I am replacing my 3.1 with a 3.1 from doner car.I have never done this before and was hoping to get a quick overview/outline on the NECESSARY steps, and any mistakes rookies usually make.
This is a straight TAKE IT OUT as complete as possible and stuff it right back in.

A Haynes manual will have enough step-by-step details to cover you.
Basically:
1) Take pictures before you take anything off, and as you go along.
2) Label everything as you take it apart - wires, hoses, brackets, etc.
3) If it's attached to both the engine and car, remove it from the engine and lay it out of the way. If you have to disconnect from both, make sure you describe on your label where it was.
4) You'll have to be able to work both above and below the car. A good floor jack and sturdy jack stands a must.
5) Drain the coolant and oil into separate containers and dispose of properly.
6) It's spelled "donor" (we'll count that as a rookie mistake . . .
).

The best thing you could do is take pictures and get a huge box of ziplocs and a sharpie. Organize every bit of hardware and tape it to its part. label hoses connectors etc. I learned the hardway so you wont
I took my first engine out (v6) replaced it with a v8 and learned it all through previous forums...
