ok my deal

Ok first off i would like to say hi my name is corey im 16 and i live in florida and i have read a lot on here over the last couple of week and i find most of you very bright and i would like to hear what you think of my deal.

Ok now first off i just got my first car last month a 84 z28 with T-tops in pretty good condition for a little cash and a lot a work i did for the guy. See the guy i got it from, bought a stock 86 monte ss 86K from my dad and since he had a worked 350 in the camaro i have now. He wanted to put the 350 in the monte and the monte 305 in the camaro. So he offered me the job of switching them. So i took it and it took me 2 1/2 weekends and i was done so i made the deal to take the camaro instead of cash

Now here the second problem after driving it after a month i need more power the 305 runs good but i need more power. Ok here where it intresting so after looking a couple of days of looking for a 350. My mom tells her friend what i have been doing and her firend say i think there a motor my ex husban bought a couple years ago, in the shed thats just siting there i pretty sure he got it out of a corvette. So my mom tells me this so i go and ride out there. I get there it in a run down $hit hole shed sitting on a old matress theres bee nest all over and cockroaches all over and i mean allover But there it is, it has cobb weds and a bee hives here and there on it but its a orange 350 block with weber carb, edlebrock spacer, a little rusty edlebrock dressup kit wield intake oh and a borg warner 4 speed with it. So i get it out of there and put it in the truck and soon as i sit it down a god dam 60 cockroaches come out of the bottom(not in it down by the oil pan) and go all over me dads new f150. He starts yelling at me so i use a whole can of PB blaster(ohh) and kill a lot of them. i get it home leave it out back (roaches) and start geting casting casting number and sure enough it a 350 corvette motor from a 73 here are the casting number and what i found on it so far (vin or cast 3970010 350...69-80 yrs...2 or 4 core)
1973CLR 350 4 spd trans.T L82 250 4 Vette
YearCIDCarbCompHP/GPH @ rpmnet trq@rpmBoreStrokeModels/Comment
1973350 R4 9 250 5200 285 4000 4.001 3.48

OK so what do you guy think of it? What should i do now, i am looking at rebuild kits. It spins when i hit it with the wrench its not lock up and it still came out green anti freeze when i tip it but after seeing them roaches i think it needs a rebuild. I would like to put in a cam and lifter and maybe change or port the heads(333882 f104) change the intake to edlebrock. . what do you think i should do put it in and see if it fires or rebuild and build up. Oh and what should i do with the trans keep the t5 or put in that 4 speed. I am open to all everything

Well, I'd rebuild it to be on the safe side, but you could just pull the heads and see how it looks, and if it looks okay then try running it, but you're still taking a risk, so once again I'd say rebuild it. You are gonna want to look into different heads (882's suck!!! See my sig lol). But the good news is you may have a set already sitting on your 305. I'm thinking that if that 305 came out of a Monte SS it is probably an LG4 or L69 motor (I don't know Montes real well, but I'm pretty sure) which means it will have 416cast heads on it. While these aren't the greatest heads in the world they have plenty of potential, and should work well for a 16 year old on a budget. Port those and install 1.94" intake valves and you're set. Cam wise the XE262H seems to be quite popular as far as a cam that makes decent power and is still quite streetable. Those heads and cam along with a rebuild with flattop pistons, and edelbrock intake, and a 600cfm carb and I think you would be quite happy. Of course this is just my and others may have completely different ideas.
