Providing you haven't done anything drastic like using raised exhaust port heads or very large header tubes, you can use the factory steering box. You will need BBC power steering mount brackets as no SBC accessory brackets will work on a BBC.
If you want to have manual steering, find a manual steering box from an 80's S10. It's a direct bolt in. There's usually at least one available on Ebay.

I just finished the PS pump on my BBC. I used the Alan Grove PS and alt mounts with a long WP. The PS pump bracket had to be modified to move the pump up a little....it put the pulley too close to the steering box. There's not much room there.
Good luck,

I bought mine from a local speed shop here in Alabama called CBI performance. Afterward, I found that I could have saved a little from order ing them directly from Alan Grove.
They have a website:

I highly recommend the mid mount alternator mount for LWP BBC, it worked great.
I modified the lower PS pump bracket by drilling a new upper hole which swung the PS pump up a few inches, and the upper bracket had to have a new hole drilled to bring the adjustment slot back in alignment with the mounting hole on the waterpump. I will e-mail some pics if you'd like; however, there are easier ways. I can't say I wholly endorse the PS pump mount for this application since it takes these mods.
P.S. I am not running air conditioning....just an alternator, mech waterpump, and PS pump

Sorry, I can't post any more photos since the site changed and I don't have web storage for photos. I will e-mail you some if you pm me with an address.
