new startup... coolant?

This may sound like a stupid question, I dunno...

I am getting ready to start up the new 350, should I be filling my coolant with 50/50 antifreeze / water, or should I be running straight water in the beginning just due to possible leaks etc... ??

Are you running a hydraulic roller or flat tappet cam?

Your choice. If you're unsure of possible leaks, run water only. After it's been run and no leaks, pull the lower radiator hose to partially drain the engine and fully drain the radiator. Also drain the overflow. Fill with straight coolant. It should take about 2 gallons to fill it up, and the overall ratio should be about 50/50.

Gotcha.

I think I will go with straight water for the startup, just to be sure no leaks.

I went with water, turn out, no major leaks! yay!

forgot to tighten 2 clamps in the back for the heater core... had some drips down the firewall.

Thanks again for the information
